Denise was my first international bride and will always hold a special place in my heart... <3

I just adore her wedding photos and I wanted to share them with you as my first 'real bride' post.

In August last year Denise contacted me after seeing my work published on Polka Dot Bride. She had just moved back to Canada from Australia. She'd had a veil made but it was just not working...with only two weeks to get it made and posted to Kamloops, Canada, for her hair trial, I was on a mission :) Two weeks after that was the wedding and it was a nervous wait to hear her thoughts...

"It's here!!!!! and it's beautiful!!!!! Perfect!!!!! Oh my gosh, seriously, it is exactly how I imagined! The parcel could not of come at a better time too. I have my hair trial #2 today and your model on your business card has exactly the hair I'm thinking.

Thank you so much Amy. I love that the veil is a 2 in 1 piece as well.

You've been nothing buy supportive with this whole process and I really appreciate it. Talk to you soon. 11 days now!"

Held at her family home, Denise and Ryan tied the knot in a GORGEOUS rustic and vintage setting, styled magically with lots of DIY touches. Captured by an amazing photographer, Owen Imaging, prepare to be left breathless...

Denise was inspired by the family farm being very rustic but yet modern on its own. So thought rather than fighting the surroundings she would just go with it and bring cute DIY touches wherever she could.

"As for colour I must admit I really lucked out. I had no idea how everything was going to come together. I knew that I wanted organic and natural soft colours with lavender being the accent colour. I am so thrilled with how everything turned out."

Denise was quoted on www.weddingobsession.com "I would have to say my favorite moment from my wedding day was during our ceremony I looked into the field behind us just for a moment and saw the two family horses side by side in the grass. It was one of those magical moments that you can’t describe the feeling."

Denise's advice for other brides..

"My advice for any bride would be that it is impossible to have flawless planning or zero stress leading up to the wedding but when you walk down the aisle and see your husband to-be’s face looking at you it is all worth it."

How long have you been working in the industry? 
Almost 4 years now.

What is your favourite combination for a bouquet?
Oh that is such a hard one!! I am pretty sure this changes every week! This week it is Dahlias, David Austen & Snow Berries.

What is your most popular flower request?
Peony or David Austen Rose bouquets.

If you had free reign to make a bouquet out of whatever you wanted...what would you use?
Really it would depend on the season but generally speaking I love using native wild flowers. I find them all so unique and interesting.

What do you love most about working in the wedding industry?

I love the wedding industry mostly because I cannot think of anything more rewarding than the feeling that you have taken part in such a special occassion! To have touched someone's life in such a way that will never be forgotten. To be a part of a magical event like that is the most amazing and satisfying feeling - you just cant explain it!!

What do you want to achieve in the next 10 years?

I would love to continue bringing a smile to peoples faces with flowers and producing beautiful events. hopefully one day I can tune my knowledge into teaching floristry - that would be nice!

If you could be a celebrity for a day, who would it be? And why?  

The Dalai Lama, he inspires me everyday! I love everything he stands for. The peace he resembles – I just worship him!!
 

Favourite Bridal dress designer? And what do you love about them/their style? That’s a hard one! I love so many...But I am so in love with the incredible Elle Saab, I adore the style the soft flowing gowns and exquisite fabrics & lace he uses in the gowns he creates.. so beautiful!!

A little insight into the world of Megan Vaughan <3

How long have you been beautifying brides/in the industry?

I have worked in the wedding industry for over 15 years now (and have just realised that makes me sound really old!)

What is your favourite memory from your wedding day?

There are too many to list. I was married 8 years ago and I remember the entire day like it was yesterday. Listening to my hubby's speech was probably the highlight. He is not a romantic, but that speech was the most heartfelt I have ever heard from him - and he said it in front of 140 guests. It brought a tear to my eye.

What do you love most about working in the wedding industry?

I LOVED every aspect of planning my own wedding, so I LOVE meeting new brides and listening to their stories and wedding details.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An illustrator for Walt Disney and a rollerskating snowflake in the Walt Disney World Christmas parade.

What do you want to achieve in the next 10 years? Where do you want to be?

In 10 years I will be settled on 5-10 acres in the Kangaroo Valley, I will be represented by an agent and will be working weddings on weekends and fashion/editorial during the week. I am hoping to have been around the world a few times by then and have a French & Italian Vogue cover or two under my belt :0)
